As far as Birdy, who by the way, is one of the nicest people I've had the privilege of meeting, his full-time role at MacroSystems was to create "eye-candy" and short artistic pieces by using the various effects software. He's been employed to do this for the past 7 years! I don't think Apple, Sony or Avid have ever had full-time employees whose main job was to create little video segments showcasing what their effects software can do. I think we were blessed to have him on board as long as he was, but I couldn't help but think even a few years ago, how long will this last. Anyway, I'm sad to see him go, but from a business standpoint, I can understand the difficult decision they made. I'm sure Birdy will do well in his next pursuits, he's a true gentleman with outstanding people skills. I wish him well. As far as their business hurting, I don't know of too many companies that are in financial trouble that continue to release new products and new software at such a steady pace. Just within the last 9 or so months alone, they have released the following new editors: Renommee, Renommee Plus, Gymnos, a HDV Recorder and their first offering into the notebook world, their Liberty. I would find it difficult to believe this company could afford all the R&D costs associated with all these items if they were having a bad year or hurting. And, this list doesn't even scratch the surface with regards to the software releases they have had in the past 9 months, and what they have up-coming. I think it's quite the opposite, and letting some personnel go, doesn't translate into them lacking in sales or running into financial issues. Kind Regards, John p.s. As far as where are most of the users, they hang-out in the Member and Wedding Forums on VU, frequent the MacroSystem Online Boards/Forums and are part of the Cassie List Serve. This specific forum, frankly, can't compete with the volume of people and activitiy that the above mentioned forums have.
