Exposure Issues?? Can't Post

I d like some advice in regards to a site I ll be filming at regularly. The site is a wreck lying in 18-28m of blue water with usually 10-20m viz. I currently shooting on an old Vx1000/Amphibico system with an urpro filter. The issue I am having is that most of the wide angle shots are very unevenly exposed. That is to say that when shooting with say the dark wreck as a back drop the foreground fish become over exposed resulting in poor colour saturation and very ordinary looking images. I have tried playing with the manual exposure but with no happy results. Is there anything, short of buying 500w of lighting, that I can do to remedy the situation. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. James
