Live edit with audio delay.... help. Can't Post

I think I know the solution but wanted to put on here for confirmation...

For July 4th, I did a live edit to a jumbotron. 2 of the cameras had 200' of BNC cable ran from the stage to my booth. The audio booth for the bands was next to me. I got a feed from their total mix for the bands... I ran 2 audio technica 3032's or something like that at my booth to my mixer for ambient crowd noise which only had about a 10' cable on each.

My ambient audio was out of sync with the mixed audio... I'm thinking this is due to the large cable runs from the stage to the band's mixer vs. short run for my mics. I unplugged them immediately when I noticed this early on and just recorded to the H4.

I think I need to run the mics at stage pointed to crowd and run that long amount of cable to keep it matched up. Do you think this will solve the problem? OR is there a box where I can make a delay to match it all up?

Basically, my feed to the computer didn't have ambient noise and have to add that in for the band's DVDs.

BTW, this delay was only about a half a second... video and audio. I'm fine with that for now, but want to get the live mics in sync with the rest of the stuff. I could also run my mics on their inputs with the snake and have them only bus that to my mix vs. the amp'd mix.........

Jereome,
I maybe wrong (most of the time)...but I think your delay was not due to cable length, but, rather due to the two physically separated points of capture. This would manifest itself exponentially as the distance from the ambient mics to the sound source increases. Try keeping the ambent mics (which you already figured out) closer to the other sound source (physical space)

That makes sense!
