Stabilization opinions (Steadicam, Flowpod, etc.) Can't Post

Hi all, I'm new here...

I'm considering getting a stabilization system to use with my Canon GL2. I've looked at the Steadicam, Flowpod, Glidecam, and now I see there's a new Steadicam Merlin coming out, and the Manfrotto Fig Rig has just been released.

Of course, I don't want to spend any more than necessary, but I don't want a cheap piece of junk.

The Fig Rig looks very interesting, since it appears to be less obtrusive than the other options (but you might look twice as goofy using it...) Has anyone had a chance to get their hands on one?

What's your favorite? Is stabilization necessary (I like motion in my videos)? Any options I'm not considering?

Thanks, Chris.
