big problem with my lens x 16 (auto) Can't Post

I can't help you with your problem, but here's the Babelfish French > English translation in case someone else has ideas.

Canon France has just made me the estimate of one of my ojectifs, the x16 of origin on my xl1. I will refuse to make repairs considering the exhorbitant price that they ask me 723 euros. I know what this objective has and I find completely disproportionate this price. My objective chopé a very large moisture at the time of a turning in Guyana (despite everything the precautions). is my question to know if I can make fire elsewhere repair? cause a drop in the price?

Hope this helps / J'espère que c'est utile

Is there a website that translate Babelfish English into English :) I never could figure out what chopé means.

Basically he'd been quoted a price of $US946 to fix the 16X lens for his XL1 and he's looking for a cheaper place.

translation

Canon France has just given me a quote for fixing one of my lenses, the
original x16 on my xl1 video camera. I am refusing to pay for that as the
money they ask is outrageous : 723 euros !!!

I think what they ask is not proportionate to the cause of the problem :
my lense got a lot of humidity while filming in french Guyana (despite all
the care I took)

Is it possible to have the camera fixed somewhere else than in a Canon
registered centre? Can I have the price lowered? How to know if the price
is not exagerated?
Thanks ..
