color difference b/w a XL1 and a GL1 Can't Post

I did a wedding with one XL1 placed on a tripod and connected to my wireless mic, and one GL1 from at the front shooting close-ups. Both of them were set to auto white balance. When I was using them individually for projects, I did not notice the color difference. But when I edit the clips for the wedding, the XL1 images seems warmer and nicer. There is noticible differece when I do the A-B-roll during editing. I guess manually white balance before the ceremony probably is what I need to do. But I was afraid to make some stupid mistakes right before the ceremony and mess things up. Any suggestions on how to solved the problem in a safe way. Please provide a operating procedure if you can. Many thanks for your help.

I have not noticed any color mismatching problems between my GL1s (I have 2) and my XL1. Could be that your XL1 was primarily picking up indoor lighting and the GL1 a combination or vice versa. Also, was it *really* color mismatching or just the fact that the XL1 records a slightly better picture due to the larger CCDs (1/3" versus 1/4" in the GL1)?

Re: color difference b/w a XL1 and a GL1 [In reply to] Can't Post

We use both cams as you do for both ceremonies and receptions. We always manually WB them on the same white surface under the same light. The image from them is so close, it is hard to make out a difference in post. The only way to tell is GL-1 is a bit sharper than XL-1, and the sound during reception is richer and louder than XL-1.
Hope it helps

You should allways white balance both cameras, You have found one of the reasons when you post. In the long run it will save a lot of time when you edit. Cutting corners allways bites you in the long run.
