Artisitc Wedding Photojournalism by Uncle Rusty's Picture-Taking Service: shots from tonight's wedding.... Can't Post

I charged the client $8999, not including albums.

A few of the photos I took were deleted, because they weren't "keepers".

I also fast-danced with the guests, and will blog about how this couple was "fun" tomorrow, and how underdressed the videographer was. (Church Lady said next time he needs to wear BLACK, because that's what videographers are supposed to wear...not bright, fun colors like baby blue.)

SWEEEEET! I love the "old fashioned" processing you used. It makes it feel really vintage. Is this digital or film?

And
it's true: some photogs do get out on the dance floor and hoof it up!

Sometimes a videographer and DJ are known to get in on the action too. Tongue Yes that's me in the black vest. I'm not fleet of foot.Wink

The DJ is one we work with alot and have fun working with. This was during the dollar dance so nothing exciting was happening. The bride was totally cool with it and was laughing later. Just a little fun after the important stuff was completed. The bride is going to crack up when she sees this. Both the DJ and us had a great relationship worked up with the bride and groom. We were like a family for the day. I wouldn't do this with any customer but knew it was ok with this one. LaughLaugh

Yes I was in rare form. Mrs. Frogman was impressed....I think....She had her hand over her mouth...couldn't tell if she was about to barf or just laughing so hard she had to cover her mouth. LaughLaughLaughLaugh We were having good fun. At that point we were on cruise control and just enjoying what we do.

Darn tootin' I am. I was talking with the bride the other day since I am mid-edit in the project. I told her about the fun the DJ was having with the camera and she thought it was totally crazy and fun. She knew we were pretty good friends on a professional level (although the professional part may be in question with that clip) and knew the DJ was having fun that night.

Actually I think the DJ was wired up on something that night. He had done a Freshman HS dance the night before and was up really late and running on very little sleep. I think he was hyped up on caffeine. He was wound up that night. It was all fun. The bride was totally cool and she can't wait to see the footage....it was the dollar dance after all...who really cares about the dollar dance. Now if we were doing that during the first dance we could have some problems. I used to never film the dollar dances till I realized it was super easy to edit and shows the couple with lots of their guest. Easy customer satisfaction with little work.

I won't stay intentionally for a dollar dance but if they do it before the garter/bouquet I will film it. Pretty easy with 2 cams. One cam for the bride and one for the groom...works great and easy to edit. Usually the dollar dance happens before the garter/bouquet so we will shoot it. You are right less than half do it anymore.

This particular DJ company now calls it the honeymoon dance and encourages guests to give more than one dollar. They even make it into a contest to see who can get more money...the bride or the groom. What a racket. Your guests bring you a gift then you shake them down for more money.

I did a dollar dance way back when we first started that went on about 30-45 minutes and they ended up with a wad of money about inches thick. The brides dad threw in a $100 bill to dance with her. That was pretty cool.

One thing I have seen a few do that I feel is totally ok is they will have a dollar dance and then donate all the money to a charity of choice....that is totally cool in my book.
