The thought process is that they're both HD. What they don't understand are the significant differences in the codecs, bitrates, lenses, imagers, processing. The Flip and Webbie are a lot closer to a cell phone than they are to a Z7 or similar. The Flip uses H.264 but not an AVCHD encoder, and is a terrible quality at its low bitrate. Same with the Webbie. These have crappy lenses, 1/8 imagers, and the encoders aren't tweaked for much. It's the old saw...you get what you pay for. You can't buy a Ferrari for the price of a Yugo.
