1st 16:9 clip for web results in 4:3 ?? Can't Post

Just created my first 16:9 HDV sequence in FCP. I know, big deal... what took me soo long right?
Coming from editing my last 4:3 SD project 3 days ago, I'm really pumped now. It's kind of exactly what I needed to get back into enjoying editing like I used to. Looks great on my preview monitor via the blackmagic intensity pro card. I'm really looking forward to burning a DVD....

Problem:
I am trying to export the 3 minute sequence to a 16:9 clip for the web using the QT conversion.
Each attempt has provided me with a 4:3 streaming quicktime clip. For some reason I can not change the aspect ratio to a 16:9 streaming clip.

Should FCP6 be able to accomplish encoding the sequence to a 16:9 clip?
Please point me in the right direction....
Thanks.
Bob

So are you saying that the clip that you are exporting from FCP is playing on your desktop as 4:3?

You may want to open the file in Quicktime, press Command+J, click on Video Track and then the Visual Settings Tab. Check the "Scaled Size" and change if needed. You may need to uncheck "Preserve Aspect Ratio".

Brian,
I took your advice and change the size of the file to reflect 400x225. It looked pretty good.
I had just ass-umed that exporting from an hd 16:9 timeline that the exported file would have remained 16:9.
Thanks for your help!
