Discovered a Fantastic Backup/Sync Program in Addition to Time Machine! Can't Post

Okay I'm probably the last one to fine this, I'm sure you all already use it, but this is a fantastic program! I'm constantly trying to remember to make duplicate copies of important files, documents, encoded movies which are not part of my Time Machine backup, onto another drive as a backup. Whether it be another drive on my Mac or even a drive on my PC since it's become a good place to store backups. So I decided there has to be an easier way then manually creating a backup file every time I encode or export a new movie etc...

After doing a little searching, I found ChronoSync! Here is the general overview. ChronoSync is the complete data management utility that allows you to efficiently synchronize or backup files and folders from one disk location to another. There are hundreds of settings available within each Synchronizer document to customize your synchronizations. You can synchronize or backup files to almost any device. ChronoSync will even automatically mount other computers. Create as many documents as you need to handle all the synchronization and backup scenarios you have.

Since it's listed on Apples site and was a staff pick, I decided it was worth the small investment ($40) to have a trustworthy hassle free program.

Here is the address where Apple recommends it

Here is the address of the company (Econ Technologies) and the product page

Really looks like a great find Ron. I think it is worth a try for $40.

It sure is Bruce, I haven't had a bit of problems with it yet. Works like a charm, and saves me a lot of time and worry.

I like it Ron. What I like is that it keeps everything synched automatically. Exactly what we needed for the mac. It has been hard to find backup software for Mac that does what I want it to do.

Yes, and with the "container" feature you can set up similar backups to all take place under the same schedule, which you can activate and deactivate.

For example, I have a few different documents setup to backup files from folders located on external drives. Well the external drives aren't always powered up, so I have all of the similar backups in the same container and program that container to backup during the day and into the late night hours. However, If I don't have those external drives powered up I will deactivate that particular container until I do power up the drives, otherwise I will get an email with an error report. That's a nice feature too, because say I forget to deactivate that container when I shut those external drives down, when I get an email notifying me of an error that reminds me to de-activate that scheduled backup/container.

At first I had it set up to always send me an email to let me know the backups were successful. But soon realized I only needed a followup email if there was an error because if the backup goes okay I'll hear the "ting" class sound, but if there is an error, I'll hear the swashing sound of email leaving and headed my way. LOL, it's a no brainer.

Your welcome! So Scott, have you tried it yet? If so, any complaints?
