Howdy...

Why is it my scratch files go to my system hard drive when I have my preferences set for my LaCie?

Any advise?

The first thing I would suspect is that you are turning on the LaCie after you launch FCP. If FCP can't find the designated hard drive when it launches, it defaults to the system drive for scratch files. If that isn't the case, I'd start off with trashing your preference files. Do a search here for how to accomplish that, or use the freeware FCP Rescue.
