Losing 2 frames of video between captures Can't Post

Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me.

I'm capturing HDV footage and since the capture begins a new clip when I start and stop the camera, I'm somehow losing 2 seconds of footage between the stops and starts.

example:
media starts 00:03:19;13 media stops 00:09:30;11
next media starts at 00:09:30;13

Is there a setting that I'm missing that is causing this issue?

Thanks in advance.

p.s.- Kenneth corrected me, it's 2 frames, not 2 seconds. Thank you!

the difference between 9:30;11 and 9:30;13 is not two seconds, but only two frames. I doubt you will miss them, but hopefully they will send a postcard from wherever they went. Wink

Wow Kenneth, thanks for the super quick reply.

ok 2 frames....but why? why am I losing them?

now I just looked and sometimes it happens during an interview, even if I DON'T start and stop the camera. WHen I look back at the footage I can see where there's a frame freeze or the dreaded dropped, garbled frame, but either way, it's 2 frames. Should I not worry about it?

I just bought this FX1000 and it's that footage that's giving me the problem...uggghhhh!

Ok i just figured out how to capture my footage without "creating a new clip" for start and stop points.....hopefully that will solve my problem.

another question for those reading this:

are you using an HD deck or small HD camcorder to capture your footage?
Right now I'm using my HV30....but I'm wanting to purchase something for long term.

Yes that will solve your problem. using a deck doesn't solve the drop out issue either.. just one of the "features" of HDV... welcome to the lameness... all that resolution but you have drop outs on occasion. I've never had it hurt my final edit but it is annoying.. couple things to help lessen them...

fast forward and rewind new tapes prior to using them.. this re racks the tape and gets rid of any particles that could be lodged in there.. clean your heads with a tape cleaner.. There are other things you can do but those are the ones that made the biggest difference for me. Disappointing that you have drop outs on a new camera though.. I didn't start seeing any until about 50 weddings...

Hope you're doing well Terry. Sorry Amanda and I won't see you in Austin. :(

Cheers,
Scott
