PluralEyes Can't Post

...freakin' Rocks!!!

I have had mixed results with getting some things to sync up. It may have been because of my folder structure. I don't really know and at this point I don't really care. I just did something that I thought for sure the app would crap out on.

I took every single clip from a wedding and dropped them in one timeline. I stacked them on different lines and matched them up according to the event. I wanted to see if the app synced them up and gave me one long multiclip to edit with. I thought this would be a great way to just mow through a project.

THE APP WENT A STEP FURTHER AND REALLY CAME THROUGH!

It analyzed the clips, synced them up and put the synced clips in a new timeline...AND...created a multi clip with a name that corresponds with the name from the clips that were synced. Now all I have to do is rename the sequences to the name of the actual events.

This app just synced PERFECTLY a whole wedding in about 15 minutes while I was eating lunch. This is the best app EVER.

Incredible. I'm going to take the plunge and finally walk away from Adobe. This is going to save an insane amount of time and frustration.

Here is a screen shot of what I got when I was done.

Now all I have to do is change the name of the sequences and drop the multiclips into them. Booyah!

That's great to hear, no pun intended. Wink

I Had been reading about Plural Eyes the last few weeks, since NAB, and it looked too good to be true.
But it seems from first hand experience it works as advertised.
Thanks Ken.

Sounds cool but how long does of take to sync all your multiclips? I'm done in 10 minutes. That includes: ceremony, formal entrances, first dance, toasts, parents dances, and cake.

Regardless it sounds like a neat program- it's 10-15 minutes I could be doing something else. :)

It took about 15 minutes to do the whole thing. And that's my point - at $150 if it saves you 3 hours it's well worth it.

I tried it on a wedding I've already edited and it failed. It got the general idea but didn't sync anything correctly. I'll give it a shot on my current edit. I think the repeating chorus during a catholic ceremony might be throwing it off?

make sure none of your clips have in or out points set. I found out that why some of mine failed when I first used it.

So Kenny are you just using the multiclip that it creates? Otherwise there are several angles in the sequence timeline to go through and cut what you don't want. Just want to make sure I got it right. It did create a 1:21 multiclip flawlessly though.

I am trying to figure out how it can synch up audio from a pmd620 or other digital audio recorder with the video from one or more cameras. Does it need crummy audio from the video cameras to work?

Yes. It has to have audio to work. I just did a test and it worked flawlessly with crummy onboard audio.

Good to know...it looks like a well put together app....I notice it is not a plug in but goes in your application folder as a separate program.

Dud, I don't know why I started a thread on this subject when you had already done so. I guess i had a brain fart or something. I've moved my post here, and asked Hal to delete the one I started.

Okay i just installed FCS3 and will also be installing PluralEyes to give it a shot as soon as I start my next multicam project. If it does everything they claim, it should pay for itself with the first edit.

Just an additional note here. There was a problem with the PluralEyes prior to FCP version 7 release (I was told by the creators of PluralEyes) so if your going to use it with FCP v.7 you'll want to download the newest version.

So who all is using it and what are your experiences with it, good or bad? I was looking at their blog today at a very informative tutorial if you haven't seen it, it's excellent, check it out here:

Re: [Ron Priest] PluralEyes [In reply to] Can't Post

Just tried Plural Eyes for the first time the other day, and it rocked.
Synced up 45 minutes of audio (4 cameras, 2 audio recorders) in 2-3 minutes.

Between syncing up audio and creating the multi cam sequence, this was a huge time saver.

BTW, does anyone know how you can create a multicam sequence from the timeline, when the tracks are synced up in the timeline?
I was going nuts yesterday trying to get this to work, as I didn't want to set in and out points in the video as I needed the extra lead on two of the clips.

PluralEyes had no problems what so ever though, so from here on this will be my go to multiclip software.

Michael,

I take the clips from the timeline and place them in a special folder in my browser.
I then select each of these clips and make them or duplicate them as master clips.
Once I've done that I select and control-click all of these clips and choose - Make Multiclip - set "Align in points" and drag the multiclip into a new sequence.
This is a little cumbersome perhaps, but I find that if I use "referenced" in/out points from clips, I have results that are wildly inconsistent and very often out of sync.

Best,

Whit
