mini DV deck advice Can't Post

We are in the market for a new deck.
Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced, Mac compatible, mini dv deck for editing.
We just need it for basic editing for Final Cut Pro....no bells and whistles.
Thanks!

The Sony DHR-1000 has been a work horse for me. Can be found for under $1000 on ebay. But to be honest I think you're better off buying an inexpensive single chip camera of the same brand you shoot with professionally and use it for capturing.

I use a $150 little sony. Been using it for a couple years and it has never given me any problems. It has run way more tape than either of my big cameras and they have more problems.

i would go with a cheap mini DV camera if itits needing to be done on the cheap. The only real advantage on an actual deck (one that accepts full size dv and DVCAM tapes like the DSR11) is thta the heads are made for editing and the tape rewinds and fast forwards faster. handy in batch capture mode, but otherwise a single chip cheap camera permanently connected via firewire works very well. I have worn out 2 canon ZR series in the past 4 years doing this, and with my new setup decided to try an actual deck. the canons captured the exact same quality as the deck that was 5 times the price.
