How To Improve % of Replies To Your E-Mails!

 I'll start my contribution to VU by sharing a method I discovered and use when e-mailing wedding videography prospects...which has improved my % of responses appreciably.
This topic is NOT about whether e-mailing is the best way or not to contact prospects.
I do it all...I call, I e-mail, I send letters, Indian smoke signals, maritime flags, carrier pigeon
Tony & Luigi with a bat...WHATEVER WORKS, RIGHT? just kidding, no bats!)
( Those who provide services in NY,NJ and Eastern PA...please don't use this method as it may cut into my chances of getting hired...oh, I'm just kidding! Actually if it improves your bookings...send me a commi$$ion! LOL)
If you don't already know this...the secret is in the e-mail header!
Like just about every other vendor (videographer, limo, florist etc...) when e-mailing the bride, I used to use a header like:
RE: Your Wedding
RE: Videography for your Wedding
RE: Video for 5/15/2010
Now mind you, she is getting 70-100 similarly worded email headers from wedding service providers...sadly to say, NONE OF WHICH may ever get read because she is also getting totally overwhelmed ...so just exactly how do you make YOUR e-mail stand out?
Try this: Susan RE: Oheka Castle 5/15/2010 PLEASE REPLY
Why do you think your chances of her replying to this are greatly improved?
(I am not saying her reply is guaranteed, okay...but hopefully your chances are improved)
Because she will think worriedly to herself..."Hey, what's going on with my Reception venue...why are they contacting me...is everything okay???
THEN be darn sure you compliment her choice of venue in the text of your e-mail pitch
(because you did, after all, mention it in your header)
"By the way Susan, I must compliment you on your choice of The Oheka Castle.
Don't you just love the statues, waterfalls and ball room chandeliers?...and the video footage I am going to take of you by the gazebo and colorful florals...OMG you are going to look so beautiful!)
Not only do you compliment her choice of venue but you also establish your familiarity with the place and that you've worked there before.
Hmmm, but what if you haven't ever worked there before?
DON'T LIE BY SAYING YOU HAVE
Google the venue and click on Photo Gallery or Take a Tour (whatever they hopefully offer) and THEN say:
By the way Susan, I must compliment you on your choice of The Oheka Castle.

You are NOT lying by saying you ever worked there...but you are being honest about what you saw on the web site (it really did think it was beautiful right?)
Now if she asks you outright ...have you ever filmed there before?...you answer honestly
