VX1000 mic dropouts? Can't Post

Hi,

I bought my 2nd VX1000 afew months ago and i've had an on going problem with the mic. When i playsback the footage the sound it drops in and out alot (sound/no sound/sound/no sound). It doesn't happen all the time either it'll happen every now and then but enough to annoy me. I've taken it to a Sony service centre and had them check it out. They resembled the mic and checked it and said it was fine but it still occuring. Has anyone had an issue like this before were the sounds drops in and out?

Any help would be much appreciated.

The problem might not be the mic, but the tape heads. At least that is what it sounds like to me.

Yeah i think your on the ball. I used a friends tape cleaner even after i had it serviced and i haven't had any footage with sounds glitches since then. I just watched a bunch of tapes since that date and none of em have glitches.

Cheers for your help.

I have the same type problem. I first noticed on a wedding video one year ago. Since then it has been occuring more frequently. The symptoms are not always there. I have run thru several minutes testing the audio and it works fine. However when least expected it will drop the audio for seconds at a time, off and on. There is no problem with the video and never has been. This camcorder has been in use from day one in 1996 and only recently has the audio been a problem. What next?? Crazy
