I think you could get away with it. I'm sure they're recommending Alkaline's for longevity. I would definatly do a few test runs with the heavy duties for the typical length of your shoots though, and not just sitting around. Make sure there's active audio.

The non-alkalines will have a shorter run time, but that may not be a problem in your application.

Consider using rechargeable NiMH batteries instead of either.

They'll work fine. As you said, the voltage is the same, it's just that the heavy duties won't hold the voltage as long. But it may be long enough for your case.
