Fireworks shoot Can't Post

Greetings Everyone:

I wanted to get ideas and experiences from the group regarding the video taping of public fireworks displays.

We are in the process of developing a promotional video for a city that conducts a large public fireworks display every year.

We will have full access to location.
Cameras Panasonic DV-200 on tripods
Edit with FCP 4.???
Delivery on DVD

Any ideas about camera settings for this type of shot? What filter setting would you use? We of course Will be located far enough back to capture full displays.

Thanks, BHNC Video Production

Re: [BHNC] Fireworks shoot [In reply to] Can't Post

Just shot some of this last night with the new Sony HC1E HDV cam. Ended up using a light blue to clear grad, worked wonderfully. Shutterspeed is auto, can't manually set on this cam, so aperture was at 3.2 on both I believe shutter was auto at 50. (In Singapore, so 25.00 fps) Do you have a way to have a low-POV and a level POV so that you have two shot levels of the bursts? That's where the real impressions come in, if you can get them. Plan on slowing down the footage by 20% for best results.

Set focus to infinity (man), otherwise focus will 'pump'

My questions:
- How do you expect to film, only in long shot, or will you zoom in?
- What distance do you take to the launching area?

Good luck,

Laurent

3/4 to hard drive? [In reply to] Can't Post

Hello Mr.Douglas Spotted Eagle My partner and I are putting together a video production company. In fact, just today, we purchased a Sony HVR Z1U HDV Camera. We will be putting together industrial training and safety tapes along with commercials, music videos and some 30 min paid programming. The first thing I need to do is go thru her hundreds of 3/4 inch video tapes for her demo tape and for archiving to DVD (not for broadcast). Before we order the NLE platform, is there one you recommend for this camera, based on what we plan to do? Also, what will we need to transfer the 3/4 to hard drive (TBC, reference generator)? Can you recommend any reliable Broadcast re-seller for the 3/4 VTR? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Best regards,
