VCR Can't Post

hi there im stumped, literally, my vcr ate my old tapes, figured it was the tapes so I went and got some new tapes, worked for a bit then wound up with snow, 3/4, of it on the screen. It wasnt tracking figured it was the machine since it is old, got a new cheap vcr, tried it again with a new tape and still have the snow again 3/4s of it, think this now could just be the tv? grrrrrr thx :)

I take it you are trying to record to tape, what does the signal look like on the tv, while you are trying to record. What is the source you are trying to record from. and how do you have it connected to the vcr. and from the vcr to tv.

Re: [ppatton] VCR [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Paul Still a having probs with my VCR. My Tv is an RCA my old VCR is an RCA, and my new VCR is a Magnavox, good ol cheapo :) Anyways, hook up.. from the TV: yellow is in video IN, white and red is in audio IN all on Input 3. The hook up to the VCR is white and red are on audio OUT and yellow is in video OUT. TV ANT..cable line is on the IN line and connection from VCR to TV is on OUT. Hope this makes sense. I have had it on both VCRs, and have had this on the old rca for sometime now. My TV reception without the VCR on is great except for lower channel such as #2 3 4 5 , but with the VCR on these lower channels come in awesome as well as the other channels. Im just trying to record shows on tv for later viewing, havent had any problems taping them till my old machine ate a couple tapes, bought new ones and that was when the snow started, got new a new machine, put the tape in it and it started with that one as well. Now it does it with all new tapes, Bought a head cleaner (dry one) ran it twice didnt work. Ready to take a hammer. Thanks for the reply Stumped

I don't think this will fix the problem, but it might...

Disconnect the TV OUT coaxial connection between the VCR and the TV. Set the TV to "monitor" position, using the TV/Video selector on your remote, or whatever other method your set uses to tell it to take a signal from the RCA audio/video inputs instead of the antenna.

Even if this isn't the cause of your problem, you shouldn't have BOTH the RF connection AND the RCA connections hooked up between your TV and your VCR.
