Panasonic HMC150 questions Can't Post

For those currently shooting with the Panasonic HMC150, how do you feel about the following items? Anything else that's caught your attention in regards to its usefulness for shooting weddings?

(1) Low-light sensitivity

(2) External camera control when shooting on a tripod

(3) Battery life

I have one, and I'm waiting for another when B&H stocks them.

(1) Low-light sensitivity... Not great like an EX1, but more than decent.

(2) External camera control when shooting on a tripod...I bought a Varizoom specifically for the Panny. There is no lanc, so you need the proper controller.

(3) Battery life...The included battery will get you to about an hour and 15 minutes tops. I bought 2 larger batteries and those are the ones I use.

I heard something about some folks having an audio clipping or
distortion of some type. Don't know if there's anything to it or
not.

Yeah, I was worried about that as well. But so far, mine is fine.

What specifically has been the reported problem?

How long can you run on one of the larger batteries, and roughly how much do those cost? How much was the Varizoom controller?

The larger batteries are $170, and last at least 3 1/2 hours of use. So two of them more than handle my needs, since I don't shot much more than 4 1/2 hours of actual footage per gig.

The controller was $265.

I used this as a lens protector - should I have used something else?

Thanks

I picked up one from B&H for $25. Everyone should have one on their camera.

Is low light shooting comparable to the dvx-100?

I'm new to Panasonic with the 150, but from what I've seen at DVX User, it does have an advantage over the 100 in low light. But how much of one, I don't really know.

I'll be shooting with the 150s this Saturday in the darkest venue that we regularly shoot in. To give you an example we get grainy footage with the VX2100 using a frezzi light in this venue...so I can't wait to see how this Panny150 performs and will give you a review.

If the VX2100 footage doesn't look good, I can't imagine the 150's will do well.

With the panny conroller you also get the added ability to control iris, which I never had on any of my lanc controllers.

I agree. It's nice to not have to mess with exposure by fiddling with the camera itself.

A little confusing here ... It's not technically Lanc but has all the same
functions? Something Panny did proprietarily?

I guess...The controllers look similar, but have a bit better response, and they add the iris feature. I really had no problem ebaying my lanc control in favor of the new one.
