external hard drive capture Can't Post

I film with fx1s, I want to do a same day edit section in a production. the price of the fire stores seems alittle steep. I am trying to figure out why someone could not just use a small laptop to achieve the same thing. i suppose having a laptop moving around like that might be an issue. Any insight into this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thats a really nice unit Dave, I looked into it a little, and if I am seeing it correctly although the unit itself is cheaper, and its cool I can use the batteries i already have, when you add in the cost of the cards its much more expensive to run it. example. the Fs-4 will give me 7.5 hours of hdv storage. The cards they sell for the sony are like 199.00 a piece, and they only hold 8 gig each, I would need to buy like 5 of them to store what the focus product does internally. Am I missing something, can hdv be stored on regular compact flash, or does it need to be a special flash card, and more expensive.

Thanks for responding to my post I appreciate it.

CF cards are super cheap - even if you get the fast ones. It's the way I would go with that setup.

Thanks Dave, I was just wondering why the sony cards sony is selling with the unit at b*h are so expensive. Are you saying that a standard cf card will handle hdv video? I realize standard cf cards are cheap and if they handle hdv video than I'm sold and your right about this.

Thanks Again

I'm reading that a 133 speed card is the minimum you can use. Does anyone know where to get the best deals on like 16gb 133 speed cf cards?

Thanks

Be wary fo best deals on cards.
It's always best to get the best affordable cars that you can.
Currently one of the better cards will be the Trascend CF cards.
