The Discovery Channel announced that Mythbuster’s last episode will air in January after one final season. The show is the longest-running series on Discovery. Neither the show’s hosts nor Discovery gave a reason for the cancellation. The show is hosted by Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman. Savage said in a recent Twitter video “We have filmed for something close to 2,400 days and this is the last one.” Mythbusters made science experiments fun for 13 years.
Both Adam and Jamie are special effects experts. Adam Savage’s model work has appeared in major films such as Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and The Matrix Reloaded. Jamie Hyneman is one of the designers of the aerial robotic camera system called Wavecam used in sports and entertainment events. Savage and Hyneman will end the season with some of the biggest myths they’ve tested, including car stunts, viral videos, rockets and explosions. Fans can post farewells using #MythYouGuys on social media. You can see most of their shows on YouTube.
Fans can also see Adam and Jamie in person on their 32-city “MythBusters” Farewell Live Tour before the MythBusters show ends.
When the scientist, engineer and real human person trio were let go, I knew the show was in its last season.
